December 11, 2024
This video is from the third episode of our online event series, “Newsreel Asia Conversations,” which gives you a chance to interact with filmmakers who explore social, economic and political themes in their works. It all came together from our team's interactions with these creative minds at the 2024 Dharamshala International Film Festival, which ran from November 7 to 10, 2024.
In this third episode, we featured screenwriter, lyricist and filmmaker Shashwat Dwivedi, and our conversation centred on “Revisiting Childhood,” based on his latest film “Bobby Beauty Parlour.”
Shashwat Dwivedi is a screenwriter, lyricist, and filmmaker, and an alumnus of the Asian Academy of Film and Television. He has collaborated with filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, serving as the director's assistant and script supervisor. Dwivedi's narratives delve into Indian culture, frequently exploring the tensions between tradition and modernity. His short films, “Paudha” and “Bobby Beauty Parlour,” have been showcased at numerous international festivals, including the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles and the International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala, among others.
